Private person

For whom?

For any one who suffers from depression, anxiety, panic attacks, insomnia, fatigue, social phobia or other phobia, OCD, and/or general worries and oppressive thoughts. Other reasons to seek counseling can be circumstances leading to personal crisis, such as divorce, retirement, existential concerns, or any other problematic issues that you may find difficult to resolve on your own.

It pays to invest in oneself:

  • The energy and time you spend on problems is liberated for activity and creativity.
  • Your relationships improve when you are in touch with your feelings and reactions
  • Your tolerance for stress and change increases when you life is in balance
Selfesteem gives you confidence in your own and others´ capacity.

Course of treatment

Usually we first meet for an assessment. One of the most important factors for therapy to be effective is that the relationship between client and therapist feels safe and trusting. That is why it is advisable to meet a few times in order to give you the chance to decide whether it feels right for you.

Some seek help for a specific, clearly defined problem. Others may be interested in how current problems came to develop and in how they continue to affect their quality of life.
Regardless of your situation it is not always necessary to go into a full psychotherapeutic process where we look for answers in your past. A few sessions can sometimes be enough to get you back on your feet, no matter what problem you are struggling with.

Cognitive Therapy

When therapy begins we define the problems at hand and then specify one or more goals for the treatment. Traditional cognitive therapy usually focuses on reducing symptoms and on teaching skills for problem solving in your life. In order to accomplish that, the client is given some form of homework between each session. Cognitive therapy is a team effort between client and therapist.

The process can vary in length of time, but usually we meet for 10-20 sessions.

Schema Therapy

Just as in cognitive therapy, we investigate together what problems exist. In addition to conversation and discussions we work with assignments that help us define which “schemas” (see main topic) you have developed.

Soon you will gain an intellectual understanding of how these schemas evolved, and we go on to working on acquiring an emotional understanding through different alternative techniques such as visualization and role playing. We also work on finding new coping strategies to help you to obtain more satisfactory results. Schema therapy can also be used to define or elucidate a problem, and the length of the process can vary according to need.
